Mousumi Sabina, PAT
Mousumi Sabina’s psychodrama journey began in 2009 while completing a second master’s degree in counseling psychology at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, where she trained under Dr. Herb Propper, PhD, TEP. His mentorship opened the door to profound experiential learning and shaped her early commitment to psychodrama as both a healing method and a professional path. In 2014, she co-presented a workshop at the ASGPP Conference in Oakland, California, marking the beginning of her ongoing involvement with the ASGPP community.
After graduating, she worked as a mental health professional in Bangladesh across diverse settings, including NGOs and leading English-medium institutions such as The Aga Khan School, part of the Aga Khan Education Network. Her psychodrama training—its theory, methods, and practice—spanned from 2009 to 2025 and culminated in her preparation for certification. After moving to the United States in 2018, she dedicated herself to completing the remaining requirements under the mentorship of Louise Lipman, LCSW-R, TEP, CGP, whose weekly director-training groups provided clarity, depth, and renewed purpose.
Her work is deeply rooted in advocacy, particularly in advancing women’s mental health and rights. She leads weekly support groups and staff development initiatives for South Asian immigrant women and serves as an on-site mental health language interpreter. As a PAT, she continues integrating psychodrama into community healing, cross-cultural work, and professional development.
